The Millenium Copthorne Resort in the Bay of Islands had 106m2 of flat plate collectors installed to heat both the domestic hot water for one of the hotels wings of rooms and the reports impressive swimming pool. This system is currently the largest array of flat plate collectors in a single system in New Zealand. Two domestic hot water cylinders are heated by the solar system, these cylinder then supply preheated hot water to the reheat cylinders located adjacent in the basement plant room. Once the domestic hot water cylinders are up to temperature all additional heat is used to heat the swimming pool via a large flat plate heat exchanger.
