EcoSolar were selected to install the solar water heating systems to serve the Ryman Healthcare Resthome and aged care facility in New Plymouth. Two systems were installed one system serving the Apartment building the other serving the Resthome building.

The Apartment solar water heating system consisted of 8 x 2.8m2 HE EcoSolar collectors heating 1,500 litres of water storage contained in two 750 litre hot water cylinders. This preheated water is then supplied to a single 500 litre reheat cylinder heated by a 45kW boiler.

The system operates as a drainback system to prevent freezing and overheating. The solar water heating system is controlled with an EcoSolar UVR61 controller c/w an EcoSolar Bootloader which is connected to the LAN and allows remote monitoring and data logging.
