EcoSolar were selected to install the solar water heating systems to serve the Ryman Healthcare Resthome and aged care facility in New Plymouth. Two systems were installed one system serving the Apartment building the other serving the Resthome building.

The Resthome solar water heating system consisted of 30 HE EcoSolar collectors heating 6000 litres of water storage contained in four 1,500 litre hot water cylinders. This preheated water is then supplied to three 500 litre reheat cylinders heated by a 75kW and a 23kW boilers.

The system operates as a drainback system to prevent freezing and overheating. The solar water heating system is controlled with an EcoSolar UVR1611 controller c/w an EcoSolar Bootloader which is connected to the LAN and allows remote monitoring and data logging.
